Flora Aghababyan – Wynn and Encore Chief Cake Designer

Since joining Wynn and Encore Las Vegas in 2007, Flora brings her artistic talent and imagination to all of her designs. Growing up in Armenia, designing cakes was simply a childhood hobby for her. Flora quickly learned everything on her own by reading, preparing, designing and changing different details and decorations where her skills were refined in many Russian and Armenian bakeries. In 2000, Flora migrated to the United States where her talent was revealed in Hollywood and later in Las Vegas.

Flora and her staff work seven days a week creating masterpieces of sponge cake and buttercream, chocolate crunch and rum mousse, red velvet and cream cheese with the highest quality ingredients available. Her guiding principal is always, the cake must taste as beautiful as it looks. Dealing with multilayered confectionary requests while making 80 to 100 cakes some ordered through the Wynn Las Vegas cake hotline and others through Wynn Catering Team for birthdays, bachelor parties, wedding celebrations and many other occasions including our biggest holidays of the year, this mastermind cake artist never repeats her designs, goes beyond her imagination and never says no to any challenge. Flora mentors her team with an enthusiastic spirit and a passion for creativity, “It’s fun—you bake, you paint, you airbrush, and this is the result.”

 

 

Renowned for her signature cakes including Cinderella Cake, Peacock Cake and Elvis Cake which earned her excessive publicity, Flora remembers most her design for a divorce cake she made for the model and actress Shanna Moekler, with a solitary bride at the top and a groom crumpled on the bottom, representing his fall from grace.

In 2011, Flora Aghababyan is chosen the Top Winner of Grand National Wedding Cake Competition held in Oklahoma. Visions of Heaven, isan interpretation of the Ettal Abbey, a landmark Benedictine monastery in Bavaria, Germany, which took Flora five weeks to complete and came in first in a field of 70 world-famous cake artists. Flora continues to wow us with her innovative and edible dream-like cakes and intricate sugar work combined with simple yet very delicious flavors.
